On the surface it's a familiar picture- a joyful event when members of the clan come together to celebrate and reaffirm loyalties, but behind the picture perfect smiles, simmer long suppressed suspicions, jealousies, frustrations and aggression. The play deals with a normal urban middle- class family : a daughter who lives abroad with her professi
onal husband, a brother who is a software designer, a younger daughter happy enough to marry a suitable boy from the US she has never met, and then, of course, there is the doting mother and the loyal cook. A family, which is educated, liberal, and modern. Each snapshot shows its members frozen in a projection of respectability, but each figure has a double image, with the shadow of a hidden life. It’s a hilarious spectacle. And hopefully, both revealing and moving.

Neena Kulkarni is a great versatile actress. I am glad I found this blog. I recently watched "Uttarayana"..Shivaji Satam and Neena are class apart. I know Shivaji for a long time and stay in the same apt complex in Mumbai. Best regards to Neena. Keep up the good work! We are proud of you.

Neena Kulkarni..whenever i watch her movie or marathi play i remeber legend actress Mrs.vijayabai mehata.Neena's acting is resembled with vijayabai.I remember her acting in Chandrakant Kulkarni's marathi play which was a mile stone.All the time she should get challengin rolls.Many times Hindi movies waste her tallent by giving her less important roll.She must be accepting it for commercial purpose.I am egarly waiting for her marathi play.
